Growing impact and trust for community-based restoration by leveraging AI and decentralised finance

Ecosystem Restoration Communities – in partnership with the Center for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CCRS, Zurich) and the Green Bridge Association (GBA, Zurich) – is exploring the development of a potentially groundbreaking financial instrument (ERC-FI) designed to connect corporate funding with community-driven ecosystem restoration projects. By leveraging the voluntary offset market, we aim to support holistic restoration efforts that create a healthier, more resilient planet for everyone. Our innovative predictive model will calculate offsets based on the anticipated impacts of on-the-ground interventions, ensuring transparency and accountability. Investors will receive detailed reports showcasing measurable outcomes in carbon sequestration, improved hydrological cycles, enhanced biodiversity, and meaningful social benefits.

We are currently building a global consortium that connects the project partners with leading universities, academy of sciences programs, corporates, and the development programmes of two UN institutions. We are simultaneously conducting a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the demand for this transformative tool in the ecosystem restoration field. This study will explore its technical viability and provide critical insights into the specific needs and expectations of businesses, ensuring the solution is both impactful and aligned with real-world requirements.
